Radisson Madison,
Madison, WI

Welcome to the official NakamaCon web site.

For many of you this is your first exposure to our convention. NakamaCon was from its first conception to be a convention that literally means “A circle of friends”. The focus is to meet new people, expand your fannish base and have fun. In Wisconsin there are several conventions, but none of them cater to the specific fandoms we wanted to. So starting in 2010 Madison Wisconsin will have a convention that will be an Anime / Anthropomorhic / Steam Punk event. The best part is since we are centrally located states like Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, and Minnesota are all just a little ways away.

Soon we will have the full web site up and running, and will be adding to all the departments. If you click on the Costume contest you will be able to download the PDF for the Rules and Regulations, next will be the Art Show Rules along with Registration and other key departments.

Check back often, the month of July will be busy for us as we plan and get things moving. I encourage you to sign up for information emails at the bottom of the page, to keep up with all the changes.

Futurama - Joe Suggs

BIG NEWS! New special class added to NakamaCon

Joe Suggs NakamaCon's guest of honor has consented to doing a special artist class. The class would be for 5 hours, (with breaks). He will cover more topics in depth but will be helping you more one on one with your designs and drawing abilities. Then after the convention he will continue to give critiques through email. Yes, even after the con Joe will still guide you as your progress continues. Many conventions have artists but few are willing to do this type of class.

The cost is only $35 per person (it helps us pay for his travel expenses, food and lodging). *Class is limited to 10 people*. First to sign up get in. This class is recommended for people who have a good grasp of art but might need a hand in layout, body weight mass and distribution, stance and gesture. If you are a fan artist or animator in school this is a class that will be a great learning tool.

Remember Joe will also be talking about his work and doing some demonstrations as regular panels as well through the weekend.

Note: Must be a registered member of the convention. To Register for both the class and the convention click here or go to the "Register Now" icon to your right.

Alice in Wonderland style theme

With Disney launching the new new "Alice in Wonderland" we thought what a wonderful time it would be to have a tribute tea! Based on a classic film and now transformed into a full live action film, this story embodies many of this weekends themes. Talking animals, fantasy, fancy dress, Lolita styles and of course wild costumes. We plan to make this tea a full fun afternoon event. The tea will take place right before the Steam fashion show.
There will be of course tea (in several flavors) along with cakes, cookies, and fancy delights to entice all tastes.

For those in Lolita & fancy dress there will be special goodies. Sign up at registration.

For this event we must have a head count before Friday of the event. Please sign up early so we may plan accordingly.

To sign up in advance for the low-tea party feel free to follow this link for details on how to pre-register for membership and for pre-registering for this event.

We need you!

NakamaCon wants your input and help in organizing and planning the convention. After 20 years of putting conventions together one thing I have learned is that the fans themselves know what they want to talk about-so let’s hear from you.

We need panels and discussion ideas, along with the people who will host them. We want to hear from local groups, Anime groups and clubs with special interests. If you have always wanted to have a panel discussion or lead a talk on a topic you love, here is your chance. I want to hear from you, so contact me directly. If you have questions or any concerns. I want this event to be for everyone, with all the fun and excitement you can bring to it.
